Billie Eugene Harlow

ROCK SPRINGS — Billie Eugene Harlow, 49, of 707 Gobel, Rock Springs, died Thursday, March 4, 2010, in Bountiful, Utah. A longtime Rock Springs resident and former Casper resident, he died following a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 3, 1960, in Scottsbluff, Neb., the son of Billie E. and Theresa Ann Pankowski Harlow Sr.
Mr. Harlow married Kathleen M. Russell in Casper.
His interests included camping, fishing, cooking and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen M. Harlow of Rock Springs; two sons, Robert Charles Metzler and Kelly Dean Miller, both of Casper; four brothers, James Harlow of Rawlins, Anthony Harlow of Marion, Ill., and Warren Harlow and Wade Harlow, both of Nebraska; one sister, Terrie Harlow of Nebraska; one mother-in-law of Casper; and two brothers-in-law, both of Casper.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Services are pending.


Norman David Ziemer

MEDFORD, Ore. — Norman David Ziemer, 66, died Friday, March 5, 2010, in his home near Lake of the Woods, Ore., surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 3, 1944, in Kenosha, Wis., to Norman and Mary Jane Ziemer. He was the oldest of three children. In 1961, his family moved from Galesville, Wis. to Lodi, Calif.
Mr. Ziemer received an associate in arts degree from San Joaquin Delta College in 1965 and a bachelor of science in business administration accounting degree from Sacramento State College in 1968.
After graduating from college, Mr. Ziemer went to work for the Internal Revenue Service in San Francisco. After working several years with the IRS in various locations, he took a year off. In 1977, he moved his family to Juneau, Alaska to work for the Alaska Department of Revenue as the chief of exam.
In 1979, he married Patricia Johnson.
In 1982, he moved his family to a farm in Sandstone, Minn. Mr. Ziemer returned to the IRS in 1985 and moved his family to Minot, N.D. Later that year, his work took him and his family to Rock Springs.
He lived in Minot from 1988 to 1993 before moving to Medford, Ore., where he worked until he retired from the IRS in January 2004.
In 1999, he and his wife purchased property near Lake of the Woods between Klamath Falls and Medford. They built a retirement home and called it “The Mountain House.”
In 1998, Mr. Ziemer and his oldest son started Rogue Valley Construction.
His interests included building projects, camping, traveling, taking long drives to the coast and the mountains with his wife, playing Texas Hold ‘Em, reading, sitting outside and friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patricia; seven children, Michael and wife Sherry of Medford, Mary Hautala and Mike Parr of Rock Springs, Dollie and husband Elijah Waters of Copper Center, Alaska, Christopher and Kacee of Galt, Calif., Michelle and husband Armando Alvarez of Medford, David and wife Brandi of Okinawa, Japan, and Sam and Rosie Crawford of Newburgh, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; sister, Sue and husband Bruce Schwartz of Nashville, Tenn.; brother, John and wife Peggy Ziemer of Acampo, Calif.; brothers-in-law, Charlie and wife Josie Johnson, Tony and wife Julie Johnson and Jimmy Johnson; sister-in-law, Tina and husband Jim Bland; several nieces and nephews; and his dog Rylie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Mary Jane, both in 1991; and granddaughter, Ashley Marie Hautala, also in 1991.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, in the at Memory Gardens Mortuary chapel, 1395 Arnold Lane in Medford. A viewing will be conducted from 3-7:30 Friday, March 12, 2010, and one hour prior to the services on Saturday.
