Man arrested after underpass crash

ROCK SPRINGS – A Missouri man was arrested on multiple charges following a one-vehicle crash into the M Street underpass Saturday evening.

Officers responded to the M Street underpass for a crash around 11:30 p.m. June 20. The investigation revealed that the driver, Jeffery Clayton, failed to negotiate a right-hand turn and struck the underpass. The driver allegedly fled the scene on foot and was quickly apprehended, according to a press release. He was treated by emergency medical services on the scene and later transported to the Sweetwater County Detention Center.

The driver was identified as Clayton, a 27-year-old from Missouri. He was charged with seven violations including allegedly driving under the influence, reckless driving, hit-and-run, open container violation, no liability insurance, taillight violation, and no valid registration.

This case remains under investigation.
