The Rock Springs Civic Center will not be closing despite increasing deficits, according to Parks and Recreation Department superintendent JJ Syvrud.

ROCK SPRINGS — Community members will have increased access to the Rock Springs Family Recreation and Rock Springs Civic centers beginning Monday, Feb. 11. Each facility will extend hours to enhance the quality of life, at the direction of Mayor Tim Kaumo.

The rec center will observe the following hours:

Monday-Thursday: 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Friday: 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Saturday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The civic center will be open:

Monday–Thursday: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Friday: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Weekends: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dave Lansang, director of the Parks & Recreation Department, said, “This change will go a long way in improving the quality of life for the citizens of Rock Springs. Patrons have asked for more time in the facilities, and positive changes are taking place.”

In addition, Lansang said summer hours, which go into effect for the facilities in May, will also be increased from past years.
