Dear Editor:

I am writing this letter to express my disappointment with the ongoing feud between Mayor Kaumo and six of eight of the council members. Unfortunately, Paul Kauchich is in the middle of this and is bearing the brunt of all this negative baloney. And he DOESN'T deserve it!

I am a recent retiree from the city, having worked at the Water Reclamation Facility for 36 years, the last 27 as superintendent. I can unequivocally say that Paul Kauchich is one of the hardest working, most ethical department heads I have had the pleasure of working with. I have had my differences with him over the years but can say the man has always had the city's best interests first in the decisions he makes. Mayor Kaumo knows this from his first eight years as mayor and made the move to fairly compensate Paul for the additional duties he has taken on.

You councilors ought to get off your high horses and accept the fact that there is now a strong mayor in place and work together to get things moving in a positive direction. I worked for five different mayors during my 36 years. Tim Kaumo has been far and away the best one. He knows how to get things done and also knows how to say no and stand by it. He understands the importance of having a good man in the position and knows Paul is that man. You people ought to be grateful to have a man like Paul, as he will always be there to take the heat, a lot of it generated by political crap that he deflects off you.
